Africa-Press – Eritrea. Just hours before facing Chelsea on Premier League matchday 37, Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim gave yet another worrying assessment of the Red Devils’ catastrophic season.
Sitting 16th in the table and closer to the relegation zone than the top half, United have never fallen this low since the Premier League was formed in 1992. With just six wins in 26 matches under Amorim and a Europa League final against fellow strugglers Tottenham on the horizon, there’s little for fans to be excited about.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim didn’t hold back: “I’m embarrassed that in 26 matches, we’ve only won six. There’s something wrong with the way we play football. Sometimes it’s not tactical—it’s about how we deal with competition, how we suffer, how we react to losses. With everything we’ve been through, I have a very clear feeling of what needs to improve—not just on the pitch, but off it too.”
Addressing transfer window expectations, Amorim made it clear that signings won’t solve everything: “We can’t change the feeling at the club in the summer. We need to stop thinking transfers will fix things. That belief—that understanding that we are Manchester United—that’s what we’ve lost.” As the season winds down, his comments paint a bleak picture of a club far from its former glory.
