Bayer Leverkusen Unveils Ten Hag as New Manager

Africa-Press – Eritrea. Erik ten Hag, a former manager of Manchester United, was named manager of Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.

The appointment will be for two years. After leaving Leverkusen to join Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso was replaced by the 55-year-old Dutchman.

Ten Hag has been unemployed since United fired him in October, when the Old Trafford team was ranked 14th in the Premier League standings.

During his most fruitful tenure, he managed Ajax Amsterdam from 2018 to 22.

The team won three Eredivisie titles and advanced to the 2019 Champions League semi-finals.

Leverkusen won the German Cup, advanced to the Europa League final, and won their first Bundesliga title without dropping a match in the 2023–24 season under Spanish coach Alonso.

Prior to signing a contract with Leverkusen, who placed second in the Bundesliga this year behind Bayern Munich, Ten Hag had been linked to a return to Ajax.
