CAS Suspends Ramadan Sobhi for Four Years Over Doping

Africa-Press – Eritrea. Ramadan Sobhi’s long-running doping saga took a dramatic turn on Wednesday after the Court of Arbitration for Sport imposed a four-year provisional suspension on the Egyptian international. The decision sidelines him from all football activities, including training, while the case heads toward a final ruling.

The troubles trace back to April 2024, when the Egyptian Anti-Doping Organization announced that Sobhi had been suspended for submitting what it described as a corrupted or invalid sample and attempting to interfere with the testing process. Three months later, a domestic panel lifted that initial ban after a hearing, but the matter was immediately escalated to CAS for a definitive judgment.

The ruling now pulls Sobhi out of the game entirely until CAS concludes its process, a move that deepens the uncertainty around the 27-year-old’s future.

Sobhi’s legal team insists they are far from conceding defeat. His lawyer, Zahran, maintained that they would challenge the latest measure swiftly and forcefully. He said they have new evidence and intend to seek full exoneration.

The final verdict from CAS will ultimately determine whether this is a temporary setback or the defining crisis of Sobhi’s career.
