Africa-Press – Eritrea. Viral AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT has been given limited access to browse the internet by its manufacturer OpenAI.

The company on Thursday through a statement announced the launch of plugins for the chatbot with the goal being geared towards improving user experience and studying its real-time use.

“We are gradually rolling out plugins in ChatGPT so we can study their real-world use, impact, and safety and alignment challenges- all of which we have to get right in order to achieve our mission,” the statement read.

OpenAI expressed its excitement and desire to create and build a community that would be integral in shaping the future of the human-AI interaction paradigm.

It added that the decision to launch plugins has been influenced by the increased number of users who have been requesting plugins since OpenAI launched ChatGPT as well as a high number of developers who are experimenting with similar ideas.

“We are starting with a small set of users and are planning to gradually roll out larger scale access as we learn more (for plugin developers, ChatGPT users, and after an alpha period, API users who would like to integrate plugins into their products),” the statement read.

OpenAI on its website has offered users worldwide a chance to join its waitlist for the chance to have access to its ChatGPT plugins.
