Facebook disables video upload option

Africa-Press – Eritrea. Facebook appears to have disabled video upload functionality on the platform. Attempts to upload videos either as posts, reels or stories indicate that the upload is loading but the process never pulls through.

However, users are still able to go live on the platform a phenomenon that Facebook management is yet to say anything about. It’s still unclear whether the inability of users to upload videos is a technical hitch or a deliberate action taken by Facebook management.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday launched Threads, a new social media platform which he said allows users new experiences to text, ideas and discuss what’s on their minds.

“I think the world needs this kind of friendly community and I’m grateful to all of you who are part of Threads from day one,” Zuckerberg said in a video message on July 6.

Threads is similar to Twitter and Zuckerberg termed it as a “friendly” alternative. Twitter’s CEO Elon Musk has, however, threatened to take legal action against Meta, the parent company, saying former Twitter staff helped create Threads.

“Competition is fine, cheating is not,” Musk said in a tweet.
