Feyenoord parts ways with Priske before Milan Champions League clash

Africa-Press – Eritrea. Feyenoord sacked head coach Brian Priske on Monday, just two days before their Champions League playoff first leg against Milan.

Priske, who took over in June after Arne Slot’s departure to Liverpool, faced mounting pressure following a series of inconsistent results.

In a statement, the club cited poor performances and a lack of progress as the main reasons for his departure: “Although Feyenoord achieved some impressive results with Brian, especially in the UEFA Champions League, the team’s performance has been far too inconsistent in recent months and unfortunately we see too little structural progress.”

Assistant coaches Lukas Babalola Andersson and Bjorn Hamberg have also been dismissed.

Feyenoord finished the Champions League group phase in 19th place to secure a playoff spot. However, they currently sit fifth in the Eredivisie after finishing runners-up last season, seven points behind leaders PSV.

The Dutch side are set to host Milan on Wednesday before taking on NAC Breda in domestic action, with the second leg against the Serie A club scheduled for Feb. 18.

Feyenoord are expected to announce an interim coaching staff before the Milan clash.
