Africa-Press – Eritrea. The relationship between Ademola Lookman and Atalanta has exploded into open conflict, as the Nigerian winger pushes harder than ever to force a transfer to Inter Milan.
Despite having already agreed to personal terms with the Nerazzurri — including a five-year contract worth €4 million per year — the Bergamo club continues to reject offers, the latest of which was €45 million including bonuses. Atalanta demands at least €50 million, and with negotiations stalled, Ademola Lookman has stopped hiding his frustration.
The 27-year-old is now skipping training without medical clearance and ignoring calls from club management. Reports claim he hasn’t been seen at the training ground for days, hasn’t shared meals with the squad, and is even no longer in Bergamo. In a public statement, Lookman accused Atalanta of breaking promises and blocking his career: “After months of broken promises and what I perceive as unfair treatment, I confirm that I have officially submitted a transfer request.”
The response from fans was brutal, with banners from ultras blasting the player for being “ungrateful” and disrespectful.
Meanwhile, Atalanta is considering fines, salary suspensions, and possibly excluding Lookman from the squad entirely if his absence continues. Club CEO Luca Percassi insists the club will not be held hostage, revealing that they had promised Lookman a summer move only under specific conditions: a top European club and no Serie A rival besides Atalanta. With Inter looming and Napoli circling in the background, this transfer standoff is boiling over. Lookman has fired the first shots — and Atalanta may soon fire back.
