Africa-Press – Eritrea. Juventus and Italy legend Giorgio Chiellini on Tuesday became part-owner of Major League Soccer (MLS) side Los Angeles FC.
“Joining the LAFC ownership group is a great honor for me,” Chiellini said in a statement on lafc.com.
“When I arrived here three years ago as a player, I immediately felt that there was something special about this club. It is an ambitious organization, built by extraordinary people and supported by a community that truly makes you feel at home. That is why, last year, I expressed my desire to become an owner, and now I’m proud to continue this journey and give my support to a project I deeply believe in,” he added.
Chiellini, who played as a defender for Juventus from 2005 to 2022, enjoyed a highly successful career with the club, winning nine Serie A titles, five Italian Cups, and five Italian Super Cups.
The 40-year-old also lifted the 2020 European Football Championship trophy with the Italian National Team.
After his time in Italy, Chiellini continued his career in the United States, playing for Los Angeles FC from July 2022 until the end of 2023.
