Africa-Press – Eritrea. Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski ensured that he won’t leave the club this summer as he “wants to win more titles with the team.”

According to some Spanish media, Barcelona are considering selling the forward, which would allow the club to bring in other players.

An important factor is the Pole’s high salary, which media reports suggest amounts to approximately 30 million euros (Sh4.3) per year.

“For me, it’s very clear that I will play for Barca next season. I want to win many cups here. I think not only about myself, but also about my teammates. I’d like to give many more things to the team and the club,” Lewandowski said in an interview with Spanish media Mundo Deportivo on Thursday.

The 36-year-old doesn’t think about retiring as he believes he is still able to compete at the highest level.

“At this moment, I feel very good, I don’t feel any different from three or four years ago, the same in training. For me it’s very important to prepare very well physically. We are very strong as a team. I can play at the highest level for at least two more years,” he explained.

Xavi Hernadez’s team are second in La Liga, 12 points adrift of champions Real Madrid with one game remaining. However, Lewandowski believes Barcelona will be able to take the crown next season.

“In the league, [Real] Madrid has won many games without playing well and I think it is something that we have to improve next season. If there is a game that cannot be won, we must try not to lose it. I’m sure we could aspire to more than second place,” the forward concluded.
