Africa-Press – Eritrea. Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 3-2 on Sunday, defying a late comeback attempt by Kylian Mbappe to stay within four points of La Liga leaders Barcelona, whom they will visit in next weekend’s El Clasico.
Shortly after halftime, Arda Guler, a 20-year-old Turkish player, broke the tie for Real Madrid by taking a short corner and one-twoing with Lucas Vazquez before sending a superb left-footed effort through a gap between defenders.
Six minutes later, Jude Bellingham’s lobbed ball sent Mbappe hurtling down the opposition half for a right-footed finish, doubling Real’s lead.
Three minutes after the interval, Mbappe scored his second goal thanks to a through pass from Guler.
Javi Rodriguez gave Seventh place Celta Vigo the lead in the 69th minute, and Williot Swedberg followed seven minutes later, but Real Madrid managed to withstand the late onslaught and secure the victory.
