Nationals Abroad Discuss National Development Programs

Africa-Press – Eritrea. Eritreans residing in Saudi Arabia, Germany, Qatar, and The Netherlands have conducted meetings and seminars focusing on national development programs and ways to strengthen their participation in these initiatives.

Accordingly, seminars were organized to brief nationals on the objective situation in the homeland as well as regional developments in Riyadh and its environs in Saudi Arabia; Stuttgart and Wuppertal in Germany; Doha in Qatar; and Rotterdam in The Netherlands.

In Saudi Arabia, Ms. Weini Gerezgher, Chargé d’Affaires of the Eritrean Embassy, along with Mr. Woldeslassie Gebremedhin, Advisor to the Embassy, conducted a seminar for nationals residing in Riyadh and surrounding areas. They underscored the importance of reinforced and coordinated participation by nationals in the successful implementation of national development and resilience programs. Participants expressed readiness to actively contribute to the programs.

Similarly, a seminar held on 31 January in Stuttgart, Germany, featured presentations by the Eritrean Consul General in Frankfurt, Mr. Kibreab Tekeste, and the Head of Community and Public Affairs, Mr. Teame Haile. The speakers highlighted regional developments and emphasized the role of strong organizational capacity and improved consular services in strengthening community engagement. The seminar, organized by the national committee, stressed that enhanced organizational capacity is essential for effective leadership and community cohesion.

On the same date, the Eritrean Professionals Association organized a health seminar for nationals residing in Wuppertal, Germany.

In Qatar, the Eritrean Ambassador, Mr. Ali Ibrahim, conducted a seminar for nationals in Doha on 1 February. He highlighted the importance of strengthening organizational capacity and establishing sustained platforms for dialogue with the community. Activity reports, challenges encountered, and planned development programs were also discussed during the seminar.

Meanwhile, the National Union of Eritrean Women branch in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, organized a workshop on 31 January focusing on the union’s constitution, member awareness, conflict resolution, organizational capacity building, and the rights and duties of members. The workshop was organized by Ms. Nigisti Tsegay, Branch Head, and Ms. Kadijah Ahmed, Head of the Promotion and Information Unit.

Speaking at the event, the Eritrean Ambassador to the European Union and Benelux Countries, Mr. Negasi Kassa, emphasized the importance of such initiatives and called for their continuity and sustainability.
