Africa-Press – Eritrea. Asmara, 29 June 2023 – A new dam constructed with over 5.5 million Nakfa was inaugurated on 28 June in Tredishi-Temameo administrative area.
The inauguration event was attended by Gen. Flipos Woldeyohannes, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Defense Forces, Brig. Gen. Tekle Kiflai, Commander of Central Command; and Mr. Zerit Tewoldbrhan, Managing General Director at the Central Region.
According to the report presented by Eng. Abraham Daniel, head of Agricultural Infrastructure Development in the region, construction of the dam began in 2021 in cooperation with the Central Region administration, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Adi-Halo Project, and in March of this year, the construction of the dam was finalized with the support of the 39th Division of the Eritrean Defense Forces.
Mr. Zerit Tewoldebrahan, on his part, indicated that this year there is a plan to construct new dams in Adi-Qe, Adi-Hawsha, Afdeyu, and Temameo.
Mr. Mehari Yohannes, administrator of the Gala-Nefhi sub-zone, said that the dam will have a significant contribution to the development of irrigation farming in the area and commended those who contributed to and participated in the construction of the dam.
Tredishi-Temameo is located 14 kilometers south-east of Asmara.
