Africa-Press – Eritrea. Mr. Habtom Gebreyesus, coordinator of the students’ summer work program in the region, reported that commendable water and soil conservation activities are being carried out through the program.
Mr. Habtom stated that over 4,000 students from 19 secondary schools in the region are participating. He added that the program includes planting 220,000 tree seedlings, cultivating over 160,000 trees, constructing of 325,300 meters of terraces, and renovating roads.
Noting that the program is proceeding on schedule across all centers, Mr. Habtom emphasized its role in nurturing nationalism, societal values, and a strong work ethic among the students.
The participants expressed satisfaction in taking part, especially in the greening campaign, and affirmed their commitment to complete the program within the designated timeframe.
