Africa-Press – Eritrea. US-based global chipmaker Intel will end its Bitcoin mining chip series, one year after releasing a standalone chip for the world’s most popular cryptocurrency.

The company said it will end the Intel Blockscale 1000 Series ASIC and no orders will be taken after Oct. 20. The last shipment will be made no later than April 20, 2024, according to a statement Tuesday on the company’s website.

The product was dubbed a hardware accelerator for blockchain proof-of-work consensus applications, optimized for energy-efficient hashing, according to the company.

“Cryptocurrency mining increasingly demands customized solutions to meet power, efficiency and other unique requirements,” it said last year.
