Africa-Press – Eritrea. WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature that allows users to add question stickers to their status updates. The tool enables users to pose questions to their audience and receive real-time responses, expanding the platform’s efforts to make status updates more interactive.
According to WhatsApp’s Help Center guide, the feature works within the existing Status function, located under the Updates tab. Users can write a question, place the sticker on a photo or video, and share it to their status. Audience members can then type responses directly through the sticker interface.
WhatsApp says the feature builds on recent additions that aim to make Status more dynamic. It follows earlier tools such as polls, music, and layout features that encourage user participation.
A key aspect of the new tool is privacy. Although users receive responses privately, other contacts who view the status cannot see the answers. WhatsApp notes that if a user collects responses and chooses to share any of them publicly as a new status, the responders’ names and profile details are not included.
This ensures that responses remain anonymous to the audience, even when shared. To add a question sticker, users tap Updates, choose Music, Layout, Camera, or select a photo or video from their gallery.
After selecting content, they tap the sticker icon, choose the Question option, then write and position the question. Responses are delivered through notifications or can be accessed by opening the Activity section of the status.
Users can reply privately to individuals who responded. These conversations are only visible to the original poster and the responder in a shared chat.
The feature also includes moderation controls. Users can report responses they consider inappropriate. Reported content is sent to WhatsApp for review, and the person who submitted the response will not be notified.
Users can also delete sticker responses permanently from their status activity page. Those who wish to showcase audience interaction can add responses to new status updates.
To do so, they navigate to My Status, tap the activity icon, then select Add to status under the chosen response. This action allows users to create a new photo or video status, incorporating the response text without attaching responder identity.
WhatsApp’s introduction of question stickers reflects a broader trend in messaging platforms offering tools that resemble features found on social media apps.
By adding real-time interaction options, WhatsApp may be seeking to boost user engagement within Status updates, a format used by millions of people globally.
The feature is available through the most recent versions of WhatsApp and does not require a separate download. Users can begin applying question stickers immediately by updating their app and navigating to the Status section.
