Africa-Press – Eritrea. While most of us do not think twice about whether or not to use somebody else’s charger to charge their devices, experts believe you should never borrow chargers.

It’s like borrowing innerwear or toothbrush, something you should never do.

Smartphones use a universal charging interface called the microUSB port.

However, if you have the tendency to use a charging adapter that does not match the original, it affects the phone’s battery performance, capacity to store charge and overall life of your battery and phone.

Always ensure before you buy another charger adapter, its output voltage (V) and current (Ampere) match the original.

Use of fake or counterfeit adapters that may not have any safety mechanism to protect your phone from overcharging or fluctuation can permanently damage the battery and internal system of the phone.

You can always borrow a cable, but carry your own adapter (charger head).

*Tip

While charging a phone, always remove the phone cover and face the display down to prevent overheating.
