Africa-Press – Eritrea. Brentford forward Yoane Wissa has publicly declared his desire to leave the Bees, insisting the club are blocking his transfer to Newcastle United despite what he describes as “fair offers” throughout the summer.
In an emotional statement released just hours before the transfer window shuts, Wissa revealed he had been promised by Brentford that he would be allowed to leave should a reasonable offer arrive. However, he now claims the club has gone back on its word.
“I have stayed silent for much of the summer, but I feel compelled to make it clear that I want to leave Brentford,” said Wissa. “I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer.”
The Congolese international, who has scored 49 goals in 149 appearances for Brentford, expressed gratitude to fans but urged the club’s hierarchy to honour their initial commitment.
“This has never been about walking away from what is a fantastic football club. It’s about being allowed to move forward with Brentford’s blessing based on repeated promises,” he added.
