Africa-Press – Eswatini. MANZINI Wanderers have suffered a major setback just as the new season begins.

This comes after the shocking exit of the long-serving Wanderers Director Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini after spending over 20 years at the helm of the crowd-pulling side and further served in the Board of Governors.

He is expected to be replaced by popular member of the special committee Steven Thwala on November 20 when ‘chief’officially vacates the executive seat.

Thwala will work with two other directors being Bheki Shongwe and Peter Mathaba.

The team’s General Manager Mlungisi ‘Mluga’ Ndzinisa confirmed the latest when contacted yesterday

“It’s true Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini will hand over his directorship seat to Steven Thwala in good faith. Chief (Dlamini) has sweat blood and faced lions with his bare hands for the love of Manzini Wanderers. I feel blessed to have been trusted by such a selfless and generous man. It was the best possible decision after being betrayed and backstabbed by the supporters and mostly the administrators he raised.

most of those who have been calling for his head have been raised by him as his children, but like every man who allows jealously and hatred to rule him, they are leading the terror squad against him,” he said.

Ndzinisa further stated that he was confident that Dlamini’s decision would benefit the club.

“Some have been given opportunities by him but when the going got tough, they hit the road only to resurface as advocates of change. It’s an end of an era for our beloved team, I am afraid of a future without him and i don’t see it.

Here goes the shock absorber in our club, the custodian of the club’s culture and rich history, the straight talker. it shall never be the same in this club,” he said.

Encourage

He further urged the entire ‘Weslians’ family to support the ongoing transition.

“We encourage wanderers people to respect the smooth transfer of power until the director’s last day on November 20 . We believe Steven as a wanderers person shall guard the soul of this club with all his might. Maybe it will be asking for respect on these last few days of umlangeni so that this great gesture cannot be hijacked by opportunists.”

Meanwhile Thwala also confirmed the latest when reached last night.

“ I have agreed to take over the position where I will work with the current directors in Peter Mathaba and Bheki Shongwe and the supporters in ensuring that the team gets a managing director who will run the team,” he said. The crowd-pullers are currently under the leadership of South African businessman Cedric Mathatha.

The changes come after the club’s back-to-back losses in the MTN Premier League being against Madlenya FC and Tambankulu Callies.
