Africa-Press – Eswatini. While each of the 23 South Africa’s Banyana Banyana players is guaranteed a E1.1 million bounty for reaching the knockout stages of the ongoing Women’s World Cup in Australia, here at home the scenario is sombre.

Sihlangu players have been left frustrated over unpaid allowances of E15 000 per player.

The players have not received anything since they returned from the COSAFA Cup played in Durban, South Africa, recently.

Some of the players, who preferred to speak on condition of anonymity, revealed that they had not received anything in terms of allowances and up to today nothing was being said to them pertaining to the matter which does not augur well with them.

“We have tried to raise our concerns with EFA but no one is willing to address the matter. Our welfare is not taken seriously. We have not receiving anything since we reported for camp before going toSA and this is very disappointing.

We are considering not honouring the next national team assignment until our grievances are addressed. We love representing the country but we are badly treated.

This is not to say that we do not want to represent our country but we just need our money,” he said

Eswatini National Football Association Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe said such issues were handled at administrative level.

“Players know where to go to if they have any grievances. It is disturbing to hear this from the media yet they know where to report this matter. I cannot divulge much other than advising them to report this matter to the relevant personnel.

As the governing body, we are aware of what they are entitled to and they would definitely receive what belongs to them in due course,” he said Sihlangu Semnikati Manager Dumisani Sibandze could not be drawn for comment as his mobile phone rang unanswered when tried several times yesterday. Each player was reportedly promised E15 000, which covers bonuses and allowances.

The Dominic Kunene-led side had a poor run in the Holywoodbets COSAFA Cup as they recorded 1-0 win against Namibia before losing 0-1 to Botswana and 1-2 against South Africa.
