Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini is making remarkable strides toward energy independence, a transformation recently spotlighted in Forbes Africa’s April/May 2025 edition.
Through bold renewable energy projects and visionary leadership, the Kingdom is setting a new benchmark for sustainable development.
“We are committed to reducing our energy imports from 80% to just 20%,” Prince Lonkhokhela, Minister of Natural Resources and Energy, told Forbes Africa. Solar, biomass, and biogas projects are being rapidly developed across the country.
“Our goal is to create a surplus that supports industrial growth and export opportunities,” Prince Lonkhokhela emphasised. New partnerships with the private sector are helping to drive this green transition.
Energy isn’t the only focus. The Ministry is also ensuring water security. “Water is a basic human right,” Prince Lonkhokhela said. “By 2030, we aim to achieve 100% access to clean water across Eswatini.”
Environmental protection is at the center of this energy strategy. “We are building a greener, cleaner economy that creates jobs while conserving our natural resources,” he noted.
Eswatini’s peaceful and stable political climate makes it even more attractive to green investors. “Peace assures you of tomorrow,” Prince Lonkhokhela told Forbes Africa. “In Eswatini, sustainability and stability go hand in hand.”
