Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Manzini Lions Club brought smiles to the faces of children in need through acts of generosity that offered more than just supplies, they offered hope. At Mpaka Refugee Camp, 60 children received school bags packed with essentials. In Bulunga, 51 learners proudly walked away in their first proper pair of school shoes, thanks to the Club’s thoughtful outreach initiatives.
These back to back acts of kindness, carried out on 25 and 26 June 2025, reflect the Club’s unwavering commitment to supporting children in need especially those affected by poverty, displacement, and lack of access to basic necessities. On June 25, members of the Manzini Lions Club visited Mpaka Refugee Camp, where they donated 60 school bags to refugee learners.
Each bag was carefully packed with items that promote both education and hygiene: a complete stationery pack, a toothbrush and toothpaste, as well as bath soap and a face cloth. For many of these children, it was their first time receiving personal school items, and the gesture meant far more than just supplies it represented care and encouragement.
The following day, on June 26, the Club reached out to children in Bulunga- Ndlandlameni community, where they handed over 51 pairs of school shoes to learners from underprivileged backgrounds. In communities where many children walk long distances to school barefoot, this simple donation removed a major barrier to learning. For the beneficiaries, the shoes were not only practical but deeply empowering offering comfort, confidence, and a renewed sense of belonging in the classroom.
Speaking on behalf of the Club, President Sammy Msibi expressed gratitude to all those who made the initiatives possible. He emphasised that every act of giving, no matter how small, can have a profound effect on a child’s life. He also highlighted that the Manzini Lions Club operates on full transparency, with 100% of donations going directly into service projects. “Every lilangeni given makes a real difference. We’re grateful to every individual, business, and organisation that stands with us in service,” he said.
The Manzini Lions Club continues to invite individuals, companies, and organisations to join hands in uplifting vulnerable communities across Eswatini. Through acts of kindness and shared responsibility, the Club believes a brighter future for every child is within reach.
