HHOHHO SCHOOLS FLOCK TO 2025 CAREER EXPO IN MBABANE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Ministry of Labour and Social Security hosted the 2025 Career Expo at the Prince of Wales Ground in Mbabane yesterday, drawing hundreds of high school learners who are in Form 3 and 5, from across the Hhohho Region. The event aimed to empower young people with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their future careers after completing school.

The grounds were abuzz with excitement and possibility as learners from different schools such as Hermann Gmeiner, St Marks High, Woodlands High, and Siphocosini High to mention a few arrived in large numbers accompanied by their teachers. They were welcomed by an impressive array of institutions and organisations exhibiting at the expo, among them William Pitcher College, SANU, the Mbabane Municipality, Limkokwing University, UNESWA, ESHEC and MTN Eswatini.

Mbabane Mayor Thulani Mkhonto opened the expo with words of encouragement. “We gather to open doors to the future of our children,” he said, stressing the importance of guiding young people toward meaningful and impactful careers.

Adding to the inspiration of the day, CEO of Mbabane Municipality Council, Gciniwe Fakudze delivered a motivational message to the students. Sharing her personal journey, she revealed that she started working at the age of 23 and encouraged the learners to believe in themselves. “If I did it, nothing can stop you from pursuing your dreams,” she said, igniting applause from the crowd.

Learners took full advantage of the opportunity, visiting various stalls to engage with representatives, ask questions, and collect pamphlets and brochures outlining career pathways, study options, and entry requirements. The event provided a valuable platform for students to explore different fields, including education, health sciences, engineering, media, public administration, and entrepreneurship.

Teachers also expressed appreciation for the event, noting how it complemented their career guidance efforts in schools and exposed learners to real-world opportunities.
