Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini’s international police partnerships are bearing fruit. Two young cadets from the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) have returned home with fresh qualifications and advanced policing skills, thanks to a successful training exchange programme with Egypt.

Khulekani Nxumalo (24) and Mpendulo Gama (20) were officially welcomed back today after completing a Diploma in Police Science at the prestigious Cairo Police Academy. Their two-year journey was part of the Africa Police Cadets Programme, which trains promising officers in modern, strategic law enforcement.

The duo joins a growing list of REPS officers who have benefitted from Egypt-Eswatini bilateral cooperation, having undergone specialised training in counter-terrorism, organised crime, forensic science, crisis management, and women in peacekeeping missions.

Their comprehensive programme in Cairo combined rigorous physical training and deep theoretical study, covering key areas such as:

• Traffic enforcement and drug prevention

• Criminal investigations and forensic science

• Security crisis and disaster management

• Communication and public relations

Speaking at the welcome ceremony, National Commissioner of Police, Manoma Vusi Masango, commended the officers for their commitment and expressed confidence in their ability to strengthen Eswatini’s policing capacity.

“We are very proud of what you have acquired in Egypt. We urge you to invest this knowledge to address the challenges we face as a country,” said Masango. “You are now charged to elevate our policing fraternity and help position Eswatini on the global stage.”

Cadet Khulekani Nxumalo, speaking on behalf of both officers, expressed heartfelt gratitude to REPS leadership.

“Studying in Egypt has equipped us with vital skills we aim to apply in support of national efforts to improve safety and security. We are grateful for this life-changing opportunity,” said Nxumalo.

This milestone marks another successful chapter in Eswatini’s growing international partnerships, reinforcing the country’s commitment to capacity building, youth empowerment, and global cooperation in law enforcement.
