PM APPOINTED PRESIDENT OF GLOBAL POLITICAL COUNCIL

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has been appointed President of the Global Council on Political Renewal (GCPR) for the 2025–2028 term, marking a significant milestone for both his career and Eswatini’s growing presence on the international political stage.

The Prime Minister takes over the role from Hon. Bridget Masango, a Member of Parliament from South Africa.

This prestigious appointment follows Dlamini’s compelling presentation at the 3rd Annual Meeting of the GCPR held in Brussels, Belgium, in February 2025, where he highlighted Eswatini’s unique Tinkhundla system of governance. During his time in Brussels, the PM also engaged with Members of the European Parliament and senior executives from the EU Council, strengthening diplomatic ties between Eswatini and the European Union.

Global Recognition of Tinkhundla

Speaking during the Office of the Prime Minister’s 2025/26 first performance debate in the House of Assembly on July 21, Prime Minister Dlamini described his appointment as an honor and a testament to Eswatini’s growing influence in global governance circles.

“This appointment follows our successful presentation at the 3rd Annual Meeting of the GCPR in Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, in February this year, where we had the opportunity to explain our home-grown Tinkhundla system of governance. This recognition affirms the country’s growing influence in shaping progressive governance and political innovation worldwide,” said the PM.

Members of Parliament congratulated Dlamini for the appointment, noting that Eswatini had gained valuable international recognition through his leadership.

This appointment not only elevates Prime Minister Dlamini’s global profile but also positions Eswatini as a key player in conversations about governance reform and ethical leadership worldwide.
