Africa-Press – Eswatini. Kareem Ashraff, the SwaziPharm Director rushed to the media to justify why he must not be arrested for allegedly stealing billions of public funds, resulting in the shortage of drugs in public hospitals.

The Times of eSwatini reported about three(3) suspects whose warrants of arrest was rejected by Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala but, the name of the prime suspect Ashraff was hidden and only revealed.

Ashraff subsequently rushed to the Times on Friday after the CJ dismissed an application filed by the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP), to justify why he must not be arrested, another article defending Ashraff was published on Saturday.

The CJ who is highly conflicted in the matter as he has been allegedly receiving money and gifts from Ashraff, will deliver judgment with reasons in due course.

On another this note, this publication reported that, Acting DPP Lomvula Hlophe who applied for the warrant of arrest against Ashraff, might be removed and the Judicial Service Commission(JSC) whose Chairman is Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala is already accepting applications and will soon employ a new DPP.

Furthermore, the JSC quickly moved to advertise the post of Anti Corruption Commission(ACC) Commissioner after the attempt to arrest Kareem Ashraff, Acting Commissioner Maphevu Mkhatjwa who worked with the DPP in applying for the warrant of arrest, has been removed.

Unlike other suspects, Kareem Ashraff is now free and defending himself in the media after being saved by the Chief Justice.

The matter is pending in court and the CJ who failed to recuse himself, is highly expected to deliver a full judgement.
