Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) is proudly representing the Kingdom of Eswatini at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), which officially opened today, 20 August 2025, in Yokohama, Japan. The high-level conference runs until 22 August 2025, bringing together African leaders, development partners, and global stakeholders to promote sustainable cooperation.
As part of its participation, EIPA is exhibiting a range of locally made products at the Eswatini stand, including handicrafts, Swazi Candles, and Ngwenya Glass. The display has already attracted significant attention, highlighting Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage and its potential as a trade and investment destination of choice.
High-Level Engagements
The Eswatini stand has welcomed several senior dignitaries and international leaders. Among them were Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Pholile Shakantu, and Senator Lizzie Nkosi.
Also visiting the stand were Mbabane City Council CEO Gciniwe Fakudze, former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and the Minister of Finance from Lesotho. Their engagements underscore the growing recognition of Eswatini’s products and the role of EIPA in strengthening bilateral trade relations.
Advancing Eswatini’s Global Position
EIPA’s attendance at TICAD 9 reaffirms the organisation’s mandate to position Eswatini as a hub for trade and investment. By showcasing both cultural and commercial offerings, EIPA is helping build bridges between local producers and international markets.
TICAD, which is convened every three years in Japan, provides a vital platform for African countries to engage with Japan and other global partners on issues of mutual development. This year’s conference focuses on three priority areas:
• Private sector-led sustainable growth
• Youth and women’s empowerment
• Regional integration and connectivity
By aligning with these themes, Eswatini stands to benefit from stronger partnerships that support economic diversification, investment inflows, and opportunities for its people.
As the conference continues, EIPA remains committed to promoting Eswatini’s competitive advantages while ensuring that the Kingdom takes its place on the global stage.
