NEW WAREHOUSE BRINGS SERVICES CLOSER TO FARMERS IN MLINDAZWE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. For years, residents of Mlindazwe under Mhlambanyatsi Inkhundla endured long and costly trips to Bhunya just to buy farm inputs or even a single box of nails. That inconvenience has finally come to an end with the practical handover of the Sinemphumelelo Mlindazwe Warehouse, a facility designed to make life easier for farmers and households in the area.

The structure, valued at over E2 million, was completed by the Microprojects Programme in partnership with Africa Cooperative Action Trust, which contributed E150 000. The warehouse will stock groceries and hardware, making essentials accessible within the community.

As it a practical handover, Microprojects will supervise the warehouse for six months to monitor its and provide adjustments or repairs where needed, before the official handover to the organizations.

Lungile Zwane-Mamba, Community Coordinator of Africa Cooperative Action Trust, said the organisation supports multipurpose cooperatives in the Mhlambanyatsi Inkhundla up to Lundzi.

She also explained that Sambulelo Multipurpose Cooperative, which led the initiative, has 68 members who each contributed E1 000 to meet the 10 percent requirement for Microprojects support.

Phinda Dlamini from Microprojects noted that the warehouse will serve six multipurpose cooperatives in the area. He highlighted that abundant rainfall makes farming possible throughout the year, but access to inputs had been a major challenge. “It was costly for farmers and builders to travel to Bhunya even for small items. This warehouse will ease those burdens,” he said. He also revealed that two new roads will soon be constructed in the Inkhundla.

Indvuna Yenkhundla Mzamo Dlamini thanked both Microprojects and Africa Cooperative Action Trust for what he described as a transformative development for the community.

Sambulelo Multipurpose Cooperative Chairperson Wilson Mphamandla Zwane added that the project was born out of a vision to address long-standing challenges. “Six organisations came together to make this facility a reality, and today we see the fruits of that unity,” he said.

The Sinemphumelelo Mlindazwe Warehouse is expected to boost farming, reduce costs, and improve livelihoods for the people of Mlindazwe and surrounding areas.
