DAYZMAN: THE MBABANE ARTIST TURNING BRUSHSTROKES INTO DREAMS

Africa-Press – Eswatini. David Golden, popularly known as Dave or Dayzman, is a self taught fine artist from the Fonteyn high hills of Mbabane. A lover of tours and hiking, he has turned his passion for creativity into a journey that is inspiring many at home and beyond Eswatini’s borders.

Dayzman first discovered his artistic gift between 2020 and 2021 when he began experimenting with paints while decorating walls at home. What started as a casual act of mixing colours soon revealed a natural talent. “Every time I finished a piece, my family was amazed. Their support gave me the strength not to give up,” he recalls.

Faith, he says, has been his strongest foundation throughout his journey. “Everything you do, keep God first,” he advises. For him, spirituality has shielded him from negativity and kept him focused on his vision.

Over the years, Dayzman has met different artists, many of whom were struck by the uniqueness of his style. Despite challenges along the way, he remains motivated. “Challenges are every day, but if you dwell too much on them, you lose hope. Music keeps me going, and as a DJ, it’s my side hustle that fuels my creativity.”

His work has attracted attention not only in Mbabane but also beyond Eswatini, including customers in South Africa. From canvases (sizes A0 to A4) to fabric art, customised clothing, and even painted chopping boards, his art continues to find admirers in diverse spaces.

To him, art is deeply personal. “I don’t have friends, my friends are my brushes and paints,” he says with a smile. Often, inspiration comes to him like a dream an idea that pushes him to pick up a brush and bring it to life.

Support from his siblings has also been instrumental. They encouraged him to refine his techniques and helped him explore new styles. His family’s belief in his potential has strengthened his resolve to keep creating.

Looking ahead, Dayzman envisions greater milestones. “I see myself ten steps away from now, moving towards a hundred dreams,” he says with determination. He is already inspiring younger artists, many of whom ask him how he started, and he freely shares his journey with them.

His message to others is simple yet powerful: “Whatever you start whether it’s baking, playing soccer, or anything else, put God first. Work hard, avoid wasting time on distractions, and never listen to negative voices.”

For commissions, Dayzman works on canvas, fabric art, customised wear, and decorative items. He can be reached at 7669 4855 / 7973 0188.
