Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III will join world leaders at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to discuss pressing global issues and promote peace worldwide.

The King departed Eswatini on Sunday, September 21, 2025, via King Mswati III International Airport, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Inkhosikati Make LaNtentesa, ahead of the assembly, which begins on Tuesday, September 23, at the UN Headquarters in New York, United States.

His Majesty is expected to deliver an address alongside other Heads of State, focusing on urgent international matters. Key topics anticipated include the Russia-Ukraine conflict, ongoing tensions between Israel and Palestine, and broader global challenges that threaten peace. Climate change, with its far-reaching implications for security and development, is also expected to feature prominently in discussions.

African leaders, including King Mswati III, are expected to advocate for Africa’s inclusion in the UN Security Council, aligning with the Ezulwini Consensus adopted by African Heads of State and Government in 2005.

King Mswati III has long emphasised the importance of peace in his speeches both domestically and internationally. In previous UNGA addresses, he highlighted Eswatini’s commitment to fostering lasting peace as a foundation for sustainable development, while recognising the role of international partnerships in achieving this goal.

At the XVIII Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement in Baku, Azerbaijan, King Mswati III underlined the critical need for stability in Africa and globally, advocating for reforms in international institutions to better address peace and security challenges.

Closer to home, the King has consistently reinforced the message of peace in national addresses, including the Speech from the Throne and the 2025 Police Day remarks, stressing that stability is essential for national progress and the security of Eswatini’s people.

The 80th UNGA presents a platform for His Majesty to further Eswatini’s voice on the global stage, promoting dialogue, collaboration, and solutions that advance peace and development worldwide.
