Africa-Press – Eswatini. What began as a routine patrol turned into a major victory in the fight against drug cultivation and trafficking, as the Manzini Anti-Drug Unit unearthed a hidden marijuana incubator at a homestead in Sigombeni.
During the operation, officers seized 440 kg of dagga, an electric water pump, irrigation pipes, and bags of fertilizer, all used to sustain the illegal cultivation site.
A 27-year-old Mozambican national was arrested on the scene, while his accomplice managed to escape. Police have since intensified efforts to track him down.
In a separate but related breakthrough, Mbabane Police intercepted a foreign-registered van transporting 408 kg of dagga without proper permits.
The two suspects, aged 29 and 39 from South Africa and KaNcesi respectively, were arrested and are expected to appear in court to face charges under the Pharmacy Act.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to intensifying operations targeting drug production and distribution, sending a strong message that those who break the law will face the full might of justice.
These coordinated operations reflect Eswatini’s growing success in protecting communities and ensuring that the nation remains a safe, healthy, and law-abiding society.
