ESWATINI SENDS CONDOLENCES AS BODY OF STUDENT REPATRIATED

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Government has extended its deepest condolences to the Nkambule family following the death of Senzelwe Sisonkhe Nkambule, a Liswati student studying in India.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has confirmed that his body has been repatriated to Eswatini, and have appealed to the Government of India to conduct a full and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed sorrow over Nkambule’s passing and reassured the nation that all diplomatic channels are being utilised to clarify what happened. The statement said the Government is aware of several unverified theories circulating online and strongly condemns any acts of violence or hostility directed at the Indian community in Eswatini.

According to media reports, Nkambule was found alive overseas but died a few days later. He was admitted to Ambedkar Hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, after reportedly being transferred from private institutions. Some reports claim he was a student at a private university, though the name of the institution and the specific course of study remain unconfirmed in available sources. One source identifies him as 22 years old at the time of death.

The Government commended the swift response of fellow Eswatini students in India, who reportedly alerted local authorities when Nkambule went missing. It also thanked Indian officials and other stakeholders who assisted with search efforts and the repatriation process.

While acknowledging the grief of Nkambule’s loved ones, the Ministry urged calm and restraint. “We call on citizens to await the official findings and avoid spreading unverified information or incitement,” the statement read.

As the body returns home and the investigation proceeds, the Government of Eswatini has formally requested that India’s authorities carry out a thorough, impartial inquiry into the incident. The Eswatini Government has affirmed its willingness to collaborate fully in this process and urged that justice be served for Nkambule and his family.
