Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Savannah Maziya has called on workers in both the public and private sectors to embrace a culture of excellence in service delivery, noting that national development depends on how citizens are treated.

Speaking during the 10th Eswatini Customer Service Excellence Awards held at The Luke Commission in Sidvokodvo, the minister stressed that service should not be seen as a duty, but as a core value that defines a nation.

“Serving must be inculcated into the culture of workers so that customers are always happy,” she said. “Other countries have developed because citizens were served with excellence. Customer service is part of who we are as Emaswati — a people known for warmth and kindness.”

The Ministry of ICT received two major awards during the ceremony:

Innovation of the Year Award for the Government In Your Hand digital platform

Government Ministry of the Year Award

Minister Maziya was also honoured with the Outstanding Record Breaker Award, recognising her leadership in driving digital transformation across government services.

In her acceptance remarks, Maziya highlighted the human value behind technology and service delivery:

“Customer service is not just a transaction; it is an expression of dignity. Every interaction with a citizen must say: you matter, your time matters, your needs matter. Through Government In Your Hand, we are building a future where government services are accessible anywhere, anytime — restoring trust, honouring dignity, and empowering every liSwati.”

The minister’s team further noted that the awards reaffirm the ministry’s commitment to placing citizens at the centre of service delivery through innovation, efficiency, and digital reform.

A statement from the ministry expressed gratitude to the nation:

“These awards belong to every citizen who believes in a digital and people-first Eswatini Government. They are a reminder that, together, we can build an efficient, responsive, and citizen-centric government.”
