Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mthandeni Dube, the eSwatini Member of Parliament(MP) who was arrested for fighting for democracy has been released from prison after apologizing to King Mswati, an absolute Monarch.
Amnesty International, an international human rights organization has been vocal demanding the release of the MP who was arrested together with another MP, Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza.The MPs were arrested merely for demanding democracy inside Parliament but, the eSwatini King decided to release Dube who apologized to him, MP Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza “who was leading the calls for democracy in Parliament and refused to apologise, is still behind bars”.Dube’s release was announced by Commissioner General Phindile Dlamini during a press conference on Tuesday exclusively reported some weeks ago that, the King decided to release him on Royal Parole.MPs Mthandeni Dube and Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza were arrested on politically motivated terrorism charges merely for demanding democratic reforms.Eswatini is an absolute Monarchy, political parties are banned from participating in elections while human rights defenders including MPs risk being arrested, tortured, forced to exile or even killed for demanding democracy.
