RES Charity Golf Tournament Raises E1.7M for 4K Homes

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The RES Charity Golf Tournament continues to make a lasting difference in Eswatini’s communities, with over E1 744 300 raised to date that positively impacting more than 4 178 homesteads across 13 communities in the Lubombo region through water, education, health, and shelter initiatives.

This year’s 11th edition teed off yesterday, officially opened by Honourable Minister of Agriculture Mandla Tshawuka, who represented the Honourable Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Muzi Bongani Nzima. The two-day tournament concludes today, 8 November 2025, at Mananga Golf Club.

Minister Mandla Tshawuka, himself a former RES Corporation employee who served the company for many years, commended the initiative for its enduring commitment to community development and corporate collaboration.

The 2025 tournament attracted strong support from 27 companies that came together through participation, cash donations, branding, and refreshments.

The anchor sponsor, Luphohlo Commodities, led by Emmanuel Nathi Van Zuydam, contributed a record-breaking E100 000 the highest sponsorship in the tournament’s history. Van Zuydam said their participation was not only about giving back but also about supporting initiatives that promote tourism and enhance the country’s image. “RES Corporation is one of our biggest clients in Eswatini. This is a small token of appreciation to give back,” he said.

Cash donations also came from Amanzi Africa with E30 000, DMR Stainless Steel Suppliers with E20 000, and Swazi Bandag with E8 500.

Elcor Industries supported the Longest Drive with E10,000 and jackets for the top eight players, while Rossi contributed novelty prizes. Other sponsors who provided golf prizes included Scotrotech, Morris Material Handling, Liberty Life & Stanlib, MCB Laboratories, and Netafim.

In addition, several companies enhanced the tournament atmosphere with branded setups and refreshments, ensuring players and guests enjoyed a lively and memorable experience.

According to RES Corporate Social Investment Manager, Phindile Dlamini, the charity golf platform has evolved beyond the green. “Through the generosity of our sponsors and partners, we continue to extend sustainable support to communities whether it’s clean water, school uniforms, dental packs, or wheelchairs. The impact goes far beyond the tournament,” she said.

Established in 2014 by Managing Director Nick Jackson, the tournament has grown from a one-day event into a prestigious two-day fixture since 2022 due to overwhelming participation. Its legacy of corporate giving continues to uplift communities, proving that sport and social investment can power real change.
