Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Minister of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Savannah Maziya, has been honoured by MTN Eswatini for her outstanding contribution to the advancement of the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The recognition took place on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, during a special ceremony held at Mahlalekhukwini House in Ezulwini, the telecommunications company’s head office. The event marked MTN Eswatini’s official appreciation of the Ministry of ICT as an esteemed partner, acknowledging their shared commitment to innovation, collaboration and inclusive digital development.
The recognition, according to MTN Eswatini, symbolised a successful partnership that had driven transformative national programmes such as Government In Your Hand, which has brought essential public services closer to citizens through technology. The company described the occasion as a celebration of progress towards a connected and digitally empowered Eswatini.
In her remarks, Minister Maziya expressed deep gratitude for the honour, describing it as a testament to the power of teamwork between government and the private sector. She said the gesture demonstrated that dedication and collaboration could yield national achievements that inspire pride across all sectors.
The minister noted that the recognition was not only a reflection of corporate success but also a significant milestone for Eswatini’s digital economy. She encouraged more stakeholders to work hand in hand with government in promoting local innovation and showcasing Eswatini’s talent beyond the country’s borders.
Minister Maziya further emphasised that Eswatini possessed vast potential in the areas of creativity and technology, stating that the nation was far from small when it came to talent and innovation. She added that the government’s ongoing partnership with MTN continued to strengthen Eswatini’s participation in the global digital revolution, empowering communities and transforming lives through smart technology solutions.
MTN Eswatini also took the opportunity to celebrate its recent international achievements, having been recognised for the Best Use of Digital Platforms and named Overall Winner of the MTN Group President and CEO Award for the 2025 Y’ello Care Programme.
Company representatives expressed excitement about the milestone, describing the success as a reflection of “partnership and purpose.” They said the collaboration with the Ministry of ICT had been instrumental in driving community-centred projects that bridged digital gaps and created new opportunities for empowerment.
MTN Eswatini added that through the 21 Days of Y’ello Care initiative, the company had connected communities and driven social impact. The $80,000 prize awarded with the 2025 accolade, they said, would be used to expand their outreach and scale their impact in 2026.
In closing, MTN Eswatini extended special appreciation to Minister Maziya for what they described as her steadfast leadership and advocacy for a “digital Eswatini.” The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government initiatives aimed at building a sustainable, inclusive and innovative digital future for all Emaswati.
