Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision of transforming Eswatini into a first-world nation took centre stage as Apostle John Sagoe of Switzerland outlined five key pillars he believes will drive the country’s national advancement. Sagoe was speaking at the Kingdom Leadership Conference at Happy Valley, which brought together senior government officials, parliamentarians and church leaders.

Sagoe said he had returned to Eswatini “to echo the vision and agenda of His Majesty” and to urge the nation to act with urgency in building the systems needed for first-world development. He explained that Eswatini has the capacity to become a regional trade and investment hub, but warned that progress requires both spiritual and structural reform.

The first pillar he highlighted was strengthening the national prayer and spiritual foundation. He said a nation that rises without righteousness “misuses wealth,” adding that churches must train disciplined leaders who uphold integrity in politics, business and family life.

The second pillar was simplifying business permits to attract investors. Sagoe said many potential investors lose interest after long delays in the permit process. “This kingdom was created to lend to nations, not borrow,” he said, urging the creation of a free-trade zone, a digital economy and an investor-friendly environment that includes rapid approval systems.

The third pillar focused on agriculture and export-driven production. Sagoe said Eswatini must move from a consuming mentality to becoming a commercial export power. He urged investment in irrigation, commercial farming and farm-to-market supply chains, noting that the country has the potential to feed Africa and supply global markets.

The fourth pillar was expanding tourism and cultural diplomacy. He said Eswatini’s royal culture, heritage festivals and traditions offer a unique selling point that can be modernised through storytelling, animations, films and ecotourism. “The world wants to see what you have,” he said.

The fifth pillar called for investment in education, innovation, artificial intelligence, medical research and skilled trades. Sagoe said no nation can advance without a healthy, skilled and knowledgeable workforce.

He urged the nation to promote peace and unity, saying that national development will only succeed if citizens “think beyond tribe and locality” and rally behind His Majesty’s vision for a prosperous, first-world Eswatini.
