Africa-Press – Eswatini. SOS Children’s Villages Eswatini has launched the Sakha Sivivane National Fundraising Campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at raising E2 million annually to support vulnerable children across the country.
The campaign was officially launched on Friday, 28 November 2025, by Hon. Skhumbuzo Dlamini, Minister of Tinkhundla Development and Administration, representing the Deputy Prime Minister. The launch brought together government leaders, the corporate sector, civil society, and community stakeholders in a united call to strengthen local support systems for children in need.
The Sakha Sivivane Campaign, rooted in the cultural tradition of collective responsibility, seeks to mobilise resources locally to ensure that no child in Eswatini is left behind. Speaking at the launch, Acting Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Skhumbuzo Dlamini described the initiative as a “groundbreaking milestone” in safeguarding the wellbeing of children and families at risk.
He emphasised that Eswatini must take a leading role in ensuring sustainable support for its youngest citizens. “Regardless of global shifts in international funding, our children remain our highest priority,” he said. “This is not charity. This is nation building. This is who we are as Emaswati, a people who care, who share, and who stand together.”
Campaign Ambassador Dr Thandiwe Hlatjwako reinforced this message and demonstrated her commitment with a E10 000 pledge, calling on the nation to unite behind the cause. “Let us rebuild the spirit that ensured no child slept hungry or missed school due to circumstances beyond their control,” she said.
Campaign Manager Bonsile Bhembe highlighted the broader vision of the initiative, which includes promoting solidarity, forging long-term partnerships with the corporate sector, and mobilising both financial and in-kind contributions. “Even a single lilangeni can change a child’s life,” she noted.
During the event, it was also announced that SOS Children’s Villages Eswatini has developed a Local Fund Development and Resource Mobilisation Strategy to ensure accountability, transparency, and structured fundraising efforts. Sakha Sivivane stands as one of its flagship programmes.
For more than thirty years, SOS Children’s Villages has provided shelter, education, healthcare, emotional support, and economic empowerment to children who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it. With increasing pressure on global funding streams, the organisation is turning to homegrown solutions rooted in national values of unity and compassion.
Declaring the campaign officially operational, Hon. Dlamini called on every citizen and organisation to “place their stone on the pile,” echoing the cultural symbolism of Sivivane, a collective effort to build a legacy for generations to come.
