Africa-Press – Eswatini. Despite the intermittent showers that threatened the sky, the spirit of Mbabane Day 2025 refused to be dampened.

Under the inspiring theme of “Cosmopolitan Living,” Coronation Park was utterly transformed into a swirling tapestry of colour, sound, and communal joy.

The annual celebration, successfully executed by Kubakuhle Events Solutions, drew hundreds of attendees eager to embrace the festive atmosphere and celebrate the heart of the capital city.

The overall atmosphere of the day was undeniably electric. The air hummed with activity, a sensory feast that appealed to every generation. The aroma of sizzling street food and traditional delicacies drifted across the park, mingling with the lively sounds of Eswatini music emanating from the main stage, where artists like gospel powerhouse Nothando Hlophe and Afro-soul maestro Sands later captivated the audience.

Everywhere one looked, there was engagement. Beyond the bustling stalls displaying local crafts, attendees utilized a designated picnic setup, and the park’s open fields were dedicated to a variety of sports and games, including miniature golf, boxing, netball, basketball, and dedicated kids’ games.

The visual representation of the “Cosmopolitan Living” theme was evident in the park’s vibrant décor and modern layout. It was a day designed not just for observing, but for genuine participation and relaxation, allowing citizens to connect with their environment and each other.

The event’s success was a validation of the vision held by the Mbabane Municipal Council, achieving its goal of blending local heritage with contemporary global trends. The core intention was clearly articulated by CEO Gciniwe Fakudze, who highlighted the aesthetic purpose of the venue. “Mbabane Day 2025 is mainly intended ‘to showcase the beautiful park of Mbabane,’” Fakudze stated.

Further underscoring the celebratory mandate was the Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Honourable Jane Mkhonta-Simelane. The Minister made it clear that the event was timed perfectly to inject fun into the community as the year winds down, encouraging everyone to “come and have fun” as the highly anticipated festive season approaches.

The successful integration of the music, games, food, sports, and stalls ensured there was something for every resident to enjoy, effectively fostering the unity promoted by the “Cosmopolitan Living” concept.

The stage featured a star-studded lineup that showcased the diversity of Eswatini talent. Beloved Afro-soul maestro Sands thrilled the crowd, while the incomparable vocalist Velemseni brought a special local flavour to the proceedings. Velemseni expressed deep personal connection, saying: “I love Mbabane, and it’s a great pleasure for me to perform for my own people, as I am also a resident here.”

Gospel powerhouse Nothando Hlophe delivered the spiritual climax of the day, performing popular hits like “Sithumela Wena.” Her powerful set resonated deeply, with hundreds of attendees singing along in a moment of communal worship. She paused to deliver a final, unifying statement of gratitude: “But the Lord has been good to all of us, Amen.” The collective energy from the performers, including LK Baba, Thubillion, Miss Tee, and Cybos, and guided by host MC Siya Dlamini, was mirrored by the lively participation of the audience.

Mbabane Day 2025 stands as a vivid testament to the city’s resilience, communal spirit, and vision for the future. By successfully blending high-quality entertainment with civic goals and local participation, the event fulfilled its mandate as the capital’s premier annual showcase. As the sun set over Coronation Park, the successful celebration officially served its purpose, ushering in the excitement and collective goodwill of the upcoming festive season for all Eswatini.
