Africa-Press – Eswatini. Twenty (20) male police officers of the Royal Eswatini Police Service have successfully completed a rigorous twelve-week OSSU Basic Course, marking a major step in strengthening professional policing and operational readiness within the service.
The intensive training programme equipped the officers with advanced operational skills, discipline and a deeper understanding of professional standards required in modern policing, particularly within the Operational Support Services Unit (OSSU).
Representing the National Commissioner of Police, Senior Assistant Commissioner Mr. Vusumuzi Gama congratulated the officers on their achievement, praising their commitment, resilience and discipline throughout the demanding course.
Mr. Gama expressed confidence that the training would enable the officers to carry out their duties proficiently while strictly adhering to established standards and procedures. He noted that the course was designed to reinforce positive attitudes, professional conduct and ethical behaviour when officers are deployed.
“Your training has sensitized you to undergo changes that will reinforce positive attitudes and behaviour whenever you are deployed. Successfully completing this rigorous yet interesting course within twelve weeks demonstrates your dedication to achieving the task that was before you,” said Mr. Gama.
He further emphasized the importance of respecting and upholding the law at all times, especially for OSSU officers who possess specialized skills in weapon handling. Mr. Gama stressed that such expertise carries greater responsibility and accountability to the public.
“Everything you do must be in conformity with the law, as our primary duty is the prevention and deterrence of crime. Your role as OSSU officers distinguishes you from ordinary citizens and demands the highest levels of discipline, professionalism and respect for the law,” he added.
The graduation of the 20 officers highlights the Royal Eswatini Police Service’s continued investment in capacity building and its commitment to providing efficient, effective and professional service delivery to the people of Eswatini.
