Africa-Press – Eswatini. His Majesty King Mswati III has announced a reward of E45 million (timbasha) and the allocation of 141 head of cattle (tinkunzi) to Ingatja and the Emabutfo, in recognition of their dedication and exemplary service during the successful completion of the 2025 Incwala Ceremony.
The royal announcement was delivered through His Majesty’s Indvuna (Headman), Finyeza Mncina, on Saturday, 24 January 2026, during Kucitfwa kweLibutfo held at Ngabezweni Royal Residence. The occasion marked the official dispersal of Ingaja and Lacwebetelako, bringing the sacred Festival of the First Fruits to a dignified and celebratory conclusion.
In addition to the substantial monetary reward and cattle allocation, His Majesty further presented Ingaja and the Lacwebetelako with calendars, chicken portions, and various food supplies. These gestures ensured that the end of Incwala was marked not only by gratitude but also by provision, reinforcing the King’s enduring care for the nation’s cultural custodians.
Addressing thousands of emajaha gathered at the royal residence, His Majesty commended Ingaja for their discipline, resilience and unwavering commitment throughout the Incwala period. The King noted that, despite persistent heavy rains during the ceremony, the regiments carried out their duties with determination and respect, describing the rainfall as a blessing to the Kingdom.
His Majesty encouraged the emajaha to return to their respective chiefdoms with renewed focus and a strong work ethic, particularly in the agricultural sector. He emphasised the importance of farming as a cornerstone of national food security, urging the youth to take an active role in contributing to the country’s self-sufficiency and economic resilience.
On matters of health and wellbeing, the King took the opportunity to address HIV and AIDS prevention. He encouraged the emajaha to make use of the recently launched long-acting PrEP injection as an additional preventive measure. However, he stressed that medical interventions should complement, not replace, responsible behaviour, self-discipline and respect for oneself and others.
His Majesty further called upon the youth to conduct themselves with dignity and care, reminding them that their actions today shape the future of the nation. He urged them to uphold Swati values, protect their health and remain focused on personal growth and national development.
The allocation of 141 fat bulls and the E45 million reward serves as a powerful affirmation of the King’s appreciation for Ingatja and the emaButfo, whose commitment ensured the smooth and successful observance of one of Eswatini’s most sacred cultural ceremonies.
The conclusion of the 2025 Incwala Ceremony stands as a testament to unity, cultural pride and continuity, reaffirming the central role of tradition in strengthening national identity. Through this royal gesture, His Majesty once again underscored his continued support for the Kingdom’s youth and the preservation of Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage.
