Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini National Petroleum Company (ENPC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nontombi Maphanga has expressed appreciation to His Majesty King Mswati III’s visionary leadership in the establishment of the strategic oil reserve facility at Phuzumoya, within KaMkhweli Chiefdom.
The government parastatal, on Friday, 13th February 2026, hosted a successful stakeholder engagement session with KaMkhweli Chief Prince Mshengu, in Phuzumoya. Also in attendance was Bandlancane of KaMkhweli, the contractor (Overseas Electric Engineering Corporation – OEE), the project manager (CECI Engineering Consultants) and the ENPC leadership, led by the CEO, Nontombi Maphanga.
According to a communication issued by the ENPC, the engagement session provided a comprehensive progress update on the construction of the Strategic Oil Reserve Facility and was also used to engage stakeholders on initiatives that will positively impact and empower the local community.
Representatives from the contractor and project manager were present to share insights and respond directly to questions and clarification requests raised by community representatives.
In her remarks, the ENPC CEO appreciated His Majesty King Mswati III for his visionary leadership in the establishment of the strategic oil reserve facility and committed to ensure that the project is delivered within time, cost and in compliance to the expected quality.
She further emphasized that ENPC would also ensure that empowerment of locals in the construction of the fuel storage facility is realized.
Prince Mshengu welcomed the delegation and thanked ENPC and the project team for the update on the progress of the construction. He noted that the project was of national significance and pleaded with the project team to ensure that the communication lines and transparency between all stakeholders be maintained in order to avoid disruptions which have been seen affecting some major projects being executed in the country.
The session provided a valuable platform for open dialogue, transparency, and collaboration, reinforcing ENPC’s commitment to stakeholder inclusion and community-centered development.
