Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini Government is reportedly struggling to find a perfect replacement for Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo.
Nxumalo was placed on special leave by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) after the renewal of his contract but, Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini rejected him saying he can’t be a Spokesperson while facing rape criminal charges.
But now, insiders within Cabinet has disclosed that, Government is struggling to identify a perfect candidate who will work like Alpheous Nxumalo.
“Nxumalo was able to play dirty and be hard against the progressives. So it was a perfect combination to have a Spokesperson like Nxumalo and a Deputy who is more diplomatic. But legally, Apheous Nxumalo remains the Government Spokesperson on a three (3) year contract, the Industrial Court ordered Government to pay his outstanding salaries.
Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
But the future of Nxumalo as a Government Spokesperson remains uncertain amid unresolved issues with the law, he is currently challenging the constitutionality of the Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Act (SODOV) and the matter is before the Supreme Court.
