Africa-Press – Eswatini. Manzini Regional Administrator Chief Prince Gija has described Their Majesties as a divine source of peace and stability in Eswatini, saying the country is blessed to have a monarchy rooted in God’s guidance.

Speaking on April 17, 2026 during an interview, ahead of celebrations marking 40 years of reign by His Majesty King Mswati III, Chief Prince Gija said Eswatini’s peace and unity are anchored in the institution of the monarchy, which he said has stood the test of time.

He emphasised that the country was fortunate that God entrusted it with Their Majesties, whom he described as custodians of peace and national direction.

“When God wants to bless a nation, He brings those blessings through Their Majesties,” he said. “Even in biblical times, God revealed visions to prophets, who would then deliver them to the King. That is how leadership is guided.”

Chief Prince Gija highlighted that the Swazi monarchy, under the House of Dlamini, dates back more than two centuries, with a continuous line of rulers that has endured through generations.

Historical records trace the roots of the monarchy to Ngwane III in the 18th century, forming one of Africa’s longest-standing royal lineages. Despite periods of colonial administration, the monarchy remained a central symbol of unity and authority, later regaining full governing powers in 1973 under King Sobhuza II.

Chief Prince Gija said this uninterrupted legacy reflects divine favour and national strength, noting that “Bukhosi baNgwane” has remained intact for over 200 years.

As the country prepares to mark the King’s 40-year reign, he said the focus will not only be on celebration but also prayer.

“We will pray that God continues to bless His Majesty with wisdom and strength, and grant him another 40 years or more to lead the nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Mdokwana of Mahlalini, also known as Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze, also joined in congratulating the King, praising his leadership and calling for continued divine guidance.

He echoed similar sentiments, urging the nation to remain united and to support Their Majesties, while praying for more years of leadership marked by wisdom and stability.

The remarks come as the country reflects on decades of monarchical leadership, widely credited by traditional leaders with maintaining peace, cultural identity and continuity in Eswatini.
