Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini has signed a key aviation agreement with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to strengthen standards and improve efficiency in the sector.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority ( ESWACAA) Director General, Andile Mtetwa-Amaeshi, and ICAO Secretary General, Juan Carlos Salazar, on the sidelines of the Global Implementation Support Symposium 2026 held in Marrakech, Morocco, from April 14 to 16.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Minister of Public Works and Transport, Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, and ICAO Eastern and Southern African (ESAF) Regional Director, Lucy Mbugua.
The agreement is expected to enhance air transport facilitation in Eswatini through targeted training programmes and professional development initiatives, while strengthening regulatory oversight and operational efficiency in line with international standards.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that Eswatini’s aviation industry remains compliant, competitive and aligned with global best practices.
It also reinforces ongoing collaboration between ESWACAA and ICAO in advancing sustainable aviation development, while supporting the “No Country Left Behind” initiative.
The symposium brought together ICAO Member States and global aviation stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and the effective implementation of international aviation standards.
The development positions Eswatini to further strengthen its aviation capacity and contribute to regional and global air transport growth.
