Africa-Press – Eswatini. OPERA singer Lwazi Dlamini keeps hoisting the country’s flag.
Lwazi Dlamini shone recently in South Africa when he shared the stage with renowned international singers, the likes of Siphesihle Mdena from South Africa, Megan Kahts and William Berger to mention a few.
From the dusty streets of Siteki the talented singer was part of the show dubbed ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ hosted by Cape Town Opera.
The vocalist expressed his excitement for the show.
“The show was actually a road show and the experience was amazing. Working with talented singers is always breath-taking, I learnt a lot from them. I was fortunate to be given a chance to perform which brought exciting feedback from my directors. I am currently working on my next role of Dunlop in Sarah Baartman’s opera by Hendrik Hofmeyr which will be performed around August or September,” he said.
It is worth noting that Dlamini is one of the very few local singers who were once part of the African’s premier opera company, Cape Town Opera.
The company seeks to inspire, entertain and develop audiences through its acclaimed stage production.
It is the forefront of transformation in the performing arts and is regarded as a key player in providing training and job opportunities to artists, arts administrators and contractors from previously disadvantaged communities.
Dlamini shared that he was planning on participating in more opera shows.
“Cape Town is the home of opera and I am planning on empowering myself and hoisting the country’s flag. My vision is to give back to Emaswati by sharing my knowledge and skills,” he said.
In a post shared by one of the curators of the show Brittany Smith, she thanked the singers and shared that Dlamini was talented.
“I want to say thank you for the colour that your characters brought to the show. “It was absolutely amazing doing this run with you,” it read.
Public Relations Officer of Eswatini National Choral Music Association, Bandile ‘Mzambiya’ Maphalala expressed his excitement and congratulated Dlamini.
“Eswatini is indeed a home of true talent. Dlamini’s achievements continue to make us proud; he is actually putting the country on the map. He is one of the artists we are proud to call our own and he is an inspiration to other upcoming singers,” he said.
Dlamini is not the first Liswati to hoist the country’s flag; Thando Zwane has also graced international stages as he once performed in Italy and France.
