Africa-Press – Eswatini. More than 250 delegates from across East, Central and Southern Africa and beyond will converge in Eswatini from 3 to 5 February 2026 for the 76th ECSA Health Ministers’ Conference.
Ministers, health experts and development partners will map out strategies to strengthen health systems and improve access to care under the theme “Enhancing Health Systems for Equity, Resilience and Sustainability.”
Addressing the media at a press conference on 21 January 2026, Minister of Health Hon. Mduduzi Matsebula said the conference would bring together nine Health Ministers from ECSA-HC member states, as well as other ministers and senior officials from regional and international organisations. “We are expecting to welcome about 250 participants for the conference, coming from various African countries and locally,” Minister Matsebula said.
He said the forum would include representatives from WHO-AFRO, Africa CDC, AUDA-NEPAD, the World Bank, the Global Fund and the Gates Foundation. Senior government officials, development partners, academia, civil society, researchers and health professionals will also take part.
The conference will be preceded by the ECSA-HC Regional Youth Summit on 30–31 January 2026. The youth summit will focus on demographic dividend and sexual and reproductive health, under the theme “Unlocking Africa’s Future: Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Investments.”
A high-level breakfast meeting for ministers will also be held to discuss eye health and the Global Summit for Eye Health. The session aims to promote investment in eye care and explore regional cooperation on eye health priorities.
Minister Matsebula said the conference will support regional goals under Agenda 2063, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the Universal Health Coverage 2030 framework.
The Health Ministers’ Conference is expected to be officially opened by His Excellency the Right Honourable Prime Minister, while Minister Matsebula will open the Youth Summit.
