Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe has urged the nation to heed to His Majesty King Mswati III’s call and work collectively to build the nation together in unity and respect.

The minister was speaking at Happy Valley Hotel when unveiling the 55/55 double celebration logo to the public yesterday. The celebration would be themed ‘A Year of Turnaround. Fostering Unity, Peace and Prosperity in Eswatini.’

She urged Emaswati to rally behind this national celebration and support the call made by the King during Sibaya, where he urged Emaswati to work together to achieve more.

She said the event, slated for September 6 would be dubbed 55/55 Double Celebration consisting of the nation’s 55th Independence Anniversary as well as His Majesty’s 55th birthday celebration.

“Let us heed His Majesty’s call made during Sibaya to continue to work collectively to build the nation together in unity and respect. The double celebration provides us an opportunity to come together as a nation to celebrate our common heritage in a spirit of peace and harmony,” she said.

She said the logo symbolised unity as a nation, as well as commitment to build a better future.

The minister invited the nation to embrace and use this symbol to showcase the pride and honour that Emaswati joyfully ascribe to. She said the logo could be obtained from the ministry’s communications office for use on all official documents, and official communication pertaining to the double celebration.

“I would like to also encourage all stakeholders and the public to adopt the logo in all communications related to the event. Further details on the upcoming double celebration will be released from time to time as preparations continue. We further invite all Emaswati to gear themselves up to participate in this historic moment,” the minister added.

Unity

The minister called on the nation to use the pending event to reflect and thank God for preserving the nation in peace, love and unity throughout the past 55 years since independence.

She called for unity as the nation and the relevant committees prepare to ensure the national celebration becomes a success. Meanwhile, Prince Ngangaza, who spoke on behalf of the Hhohho region chiefs, said the region was standing ready to support where and when they would be needed.

He said they were excited that once again Hhohho played host to this great event, as they did with the 40/40 double celebrations.

He said the celebration would attract a lot of people, hence he urged the nation to also prepare and represent the country well during the celebration.

“Hhohho chiefs are happy and ready to assist and contribute towards the success of the celebration. We urge the nation to remain united and ensure that the celebration is a success,” he said.

On that note, Hhohho Regional Administrator Princess Tsandzile thanked His Majesty for finding it prudent that the event be hosted by the region. She noted that region was standing ready to ensure they deliver a memorable celebration.

Also present to witness the unveiling was Prince Lonkhokhela, chiefs and senior officials from the ministry of Home Affairs, among other dignitaries.
