The Minister of Agriculture Jabulani Mabuza in an a speech he made earlier this year disclosed that it was the ministry’s mandate through the Department of Veterinary and Livestock Services to equip livestock producers with adequate knowledge, skills and technical expertise on the efficient management of all resources that will ensure profitable returns and an efficient and sustainable livestock industry.

He disclosed that since the beginning of the year the ministry has conducted over nine beef cattle auction sales at Bhalekane Fattening Ranch and at dip tank level, where farmers generated an income of E4.5 million from sale of 572 head of cattle.
