Africa-Press – Eswatini. We express our grave concerns, as concerned citizens Eswatini, that the Republic of South Africa (our brothers and sisters with whom we have deeply entrenched ties, as evidenced by the recent Coronation of King Misizulu ka Zwelithini), are not doing enough to denounce and apprehend the perpetrators that are attempting to stage a coup de’tate under the auspices of “democracy dubbed change”.
This perpetrators, meet, train and are sponsored by formal organisations within the Republic of South Africa.
CONCERNS
Why we feel quite aggrevied is the fact that they are prancing around the streets of Republic and proudly receive support from political formations of the Republic, with one being the most vocal. They have in recent times resorted to insult under the guise of freedom of speech and even scandoulously, without shame brought our Head of State into disrepute by claiming that His Majesty was behind their prominent Ex Secretary General daughter unfortunate and gruesome murder, wherein evidence before the Courts clearly states otherwise. He has not even had the decency to apologise to His Majesty and indeed his own family for spewing such irresponsible and unfounded allegations, clearly based on misguided political myopic ineptitude.
The very King that was insulted and scandalised is a blood descendant of Gogo Gwamile, the Queen Regent who was very instrumental in the estalishment and support of the world’s oldest libertaion movement, the African national Congress, more so in particular contact with amongst other, Pixley Ka Isaka Seme. The so called “freedom fighters of today”, whom infact are cowardly murderers, terrorists really, should not then try to conflate the South African liberation with that of our challenges in the Kingdom which are nothing like ghastly apartheid of Verwoed.
EVIDENCE BEFORE COURT
Most recent the Eswatini police arrested two men who were allegedly found with explosives and other items were tasked with recruiting people for training in South Africa to overthrow government. This is according to police investigations. The two man have been charged for allegedly contravening the Suppression of Terrorism Act of 2008. They were allegedly found in possession of two grenades, 20 live rounds of ammunition and an Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) pair of trousers. Both were arrested by members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) on November 8, 2022 at Mbhuleni, Matsapha. According to the composite summary of evidence against the duo, Kunene and a man who is now a witness (identity not disclosed), were the ones tasked with recruiting people from the country for training to overthrow the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini. In their investigations, the police said they found that one of the requirements for recruitment was to commit a criminal offence against government and obtain evidence of same through photographs and videos.
This, according to the Crown, resulted in the burning of structures, vehicles and loss of lives through terrorist attacks on personal property, government structures and police stations, among others, around the country. The court was informed that investigations by the police revealed that Ntshalintshali and the man who was now a witness, held numerous discussions on different dates regarding the alleged plan to overthrow the current government.
THE CHICKEN WILL COME HOME TO ROOST
That said, we appeal to yoursevles as our brothers and sisters and indeed sister government, in line with the SADC – TROIKA establishing instrument objectives (of which both of our states are members); we expect the Organ to ensure adherence to these regional community dictates by all SADC states and states’ organs, in full recognition of every state’s sovereignty and the dignity of nations to the right to self-determination, irrespective of size or proximity, for the sake of the shared aspirations of peace and stability, as well as socio-economic development. Perceived acts of foreign insurgency are the purview of this august Organ and we trust that such threats to the Kingdom of eSwatini shall be investigated and dealt with accordingly for the sake of good neighbourliness, for ‘what goes around comes around.’
We do not want to believe that the Republic is harbouring these insurgence, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that they straddle our two countries ‘will nilly’.
The role of the instigators in the state of destruction, looting, injury and callous murders during this period of insurrection, unjustified urgency and failure to follow constitutional provisions, should not be underplayed by all, for it sets a bad precedent in the kingdom, the SADC region and the world over, causing unnecessary strife, manufactured enmity and regression in the socio-economic development of the world’s people.
A reminder to all and sundry that the right to freedom of association is enshrined in the Kingdom’s constitution, as well as freedom of expression (not insult or threat) and as proven to date, political parties are part of the constitutional dispensation. However, those that have been classified as proscribed due to their internationally defined terrorist activities (as they perpetuate to this day) need to seek clemency, show remorse and atonement in pursuit of re-classification and therefore However seek education freely and the callous murders. The terrorists must be brought to book!
