Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sabelo Meadowlands’ Simelane, the resigned pro-democracy cop who was abducted by police officers within the Operational Support Services Unit(OSSU) on Friday morning has been found heavily assaulted.
Simelane,a member of the People’s United Democratic Movement( PUDEMO)was on the ground protesting in solidarity with Montigny Investments workers whose rights are violated by the politically connected company.
Reached for comments,political activist Brian Sihlongonyane who was one of those who rushed the PUDEMO member to Mankayane hospital confirmed the assault.
“I am with him here at Mankayane Government Hospital where he is being treated,” said the political activist.
Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Members of the police Operational Support Services Unit(OSSU) were unleashed to shoot and assault protesting Montigny workers on Friday merely for demanding better working conditions.
